mBlock Coding for Kids: Create Games with Sprites

Requirements

This course is intended to be purchased and supervised by parents or guardians.

Important Note:
This course was designed with the assistance of AI-based and educational tools such as ChatGPT, mBlock, Canva and other free AI software. These tools are used only to create examples, visuals and guided practice. All lessons are safe, age-appropriate and delivered under clear human instruction and supervision.

Computers are not only for playing games. Children can also learn to create their own games and animations. This course introduces young learners to the exciting world of coding using mBlock, a visual programming platform designed especially for beginners.

This course is designed for children who want to learn programming in a fun, simple and practical way. Using colorful blocks and sprites, students will learn how to control characters, create animations, build simple games and understand the logic behind computer programming.

The lessons are explained in very simple English and at a slow, comfortable pace so that children whose first language is not English can easily follow along. Every step is demonstrated clearly. If any student feels the pace is slow, they can simply increase the video speed to 1.25 or 1.5 and continue learning comfortably.

The course is especially suitable for parents who want to introduce their children to coding in a structured and friendly environment. No prior programming experience is required.

Throughout the course, students will learn important programming ideas such as events, motion, loops, conditions, variables and simple game logic. Instead of memorizing theory, students learn by building small projects and experimenting with their own ideas.

By the end of the course, children will understand how coding works and will be able to create their own small games and interactive animations using sprites in mBlock. More importantly, they will begin to develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential in the modern digital world.

Course Learning Path

This course is the first step in a larger mBlock learning series designed for young learners.

Students start with coding using sprites and visual blocks in this course. After they understand the basics of programming logic, they can continue their learning journey with the following courses:

  • mBlock Robotics for Kids where students learn to control real devices, sensors and robots.
  • Python with mBlock for Kids where students transition from visual blocks to real Python programming.

This step-by-step approach helps children gradually move from beginner coding to more advanced programming skills.

This course is part of a larger learning journey for young creators. Students who enjoy this course may also benefit from exploring other beginner friendly courses such as Canva for Kids, where children learn how to design posters, presentations and creative graphics and ChatGPT for Kids, where they learn how to use modern artificial intelligence tools in a smart and responsible way.

Together, these skills help children move from being simple users of technology to becoming creative builders and problem solvers.

The course is taught by S A Mehmood, who has been teaching marketing and next generation technologies for more than two decades and has trained thousands of learners in practical digital skills.

Parents are encouraged to watch the first few lessons with their children and support them as they start their journey into coding.
