Start Animating in Adobe After Effects

This beginner level class is a great introduction to Adobe After Effects. You will learn some basic techniques that motion graphics designers use. Even if you’re new to Adobe After Effects, you should be able to follow along.

What you’ll learn

  • How to animate using the position and rotation properties.
  • How to animate a line.
  • An easy write on technique.
  • Animate text using a text animator.
  • Other techniques such as track mattes, parenting layers, trim paths, etc..
  • How to choose a color palette.
  • How to export your animation to share in the project gallery.

Requirements

Project Instructions

You can complete the class project by following these steps:

  1. Download the project file from the project resources page
  2. Follow along with my video lessons
  3. Then take what you’ve learned and apply it to your animation

Included in the project file is a finished version of the class. It might help in case you get stuck on one of the lessons.

What You Need:

  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Media Encoder to export

To share your class project follow these steps:

  1. Export your animation in mp4 format
  2. Upload your video to a video-sharing platform such as YouTube or Vimeo
  3. On the projects page share the link to your video
