We offer a comprehensive course for educators, administrators, and support staff to learn about Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The purpose of this program is to help you better understand inclusion in the educational setting and to assist you in promoting it.

You’ll start your journey with an in-depth understanding of SEND. You will learn about various types of disabilities as well as the legal frameworks and types of support that are required to support these needs. It provides teachers with basic practical skills, such as managing children’s behavior and techniques to manage inclusive classrooms, as well as knowledge about dealing with children with specific learning disabilities.

In addition to understanding the stark differences between inclusive and non-inclusive practices, you will also gain an understanding of legislation to support children in early childhood settings. We will also guide you step-by-step on how to adjust your child to mainstream school using various strategies quickly. This course will cover key health and safety acts and regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Manual Handling Regulations, the Equality Act, Special Education Needs (SEN) Code of Practice, providing a legal framework to assist students with SEND.

The “We are all special” approach can be used by educators to avoid stigmatizing, excluding, or bullying students with special educational needs. In a diverse classroom, diversity is a synonym for understanding, integration, and opportunity. The course will provide a general overview of main disabilities, including learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyspraxia), emotional and behavioral disorders (ADD, ADD, depression, bipolar disorder), intellectual disabilities (ADHD, ADD), physical disabilities (physical impairments), developmental disabilities (Autism).

Last but not least, you will gain an understanding of how international schools can promote the inclusion of students with SEND.   1. Understanding SEND: In this section, you’ll learn what SEND is, what the law says, and what types of disabilities need to be met.
  2. The SEND Code of Practice: 0 to 25 Years: Use this section to navigate the SEND Code of Practice, its foundational principles, and key roles and responsibilities.
  3. Inclusive Practice in Early Years: This course explores the stark differences between inclusive and non-inclusive practices and the underlying legislation in the UK early years and childcare settings.
  4. Safeguarding Children with SEND: In this section, you will learn about protocols for professionals, national safeguarding strategies, and how to safeguard children with SEND.
  5. Health & Safety Legislation and Guidance: This section discusses the Health and Safety Act 1974, the Manual Handling Regulations 1992, the Equality Act 2010, the Children and Families Act 2014, and the Special Educational Needs Code.
  6. Reasonable adjustments: This lesson covers reasonable adjustments, the duty that applies to them, as well as moving and handling policy and health and safety requirements.
  7. Sustainable School Travel: This section explores sustainable school travel, travel arrangements, eligibility, infrastructure audits, and bus safety considerations for school travel.
  8. Emergency procedures: In this section, we’ll discuss PEEPs, as well as the roles and responsibilities of the responsible person, as well as Fire Safety Act 2021 and Building Safety Act 2022.
