You may need to print a file (photo, text, PowerPoint presentation, Excel spreadsheet …) from your smartphone. For a long time, this simple manipulation was complicated but the Google teams in charge of Android have finally developed a simple solution.

To print from your smartphone, you will need:

  • the Google Cloud Print app on your smartphone: download Google Cloud Print
  • Chrome browser for your computer: download Google Chrome
  • a standard printer

Once the applications are installed, you will have to make your printer available for your smartphone, open Chrome and in the address bar, type: chrome: // devices.

You will then see this menu:

Click the Add Printers button and select the printers you want to add before you commit:

On your smartphone, open the menu Settings> Advanced Settings> Printing (on some smartphones, you can also launch the application directly from the list of applications).

Select Google Cloud Print, you should now see your printer in the printer list:

You can now print from your Android smartphone directly to your printer. Be careful though: for everything to work properly, you will need to turn on your computer. The latter acting as a relay between your smartphone and your printer.
