How to know the configuration of a PC?

Do you really know your PC? Here is how to find its technical characteristics.

To know if your PC needs to be upgraded if it is compatible with a specific program or game, it is important to know its configuration.

Users who have carefully preserved the original carton of their computer will find very easily the characteristics of their PC. For others, it will take a little more investigations.

Some PCs have a label on their reverse, where is written the weight, the type of processor, the RAM and the operating system.

If you do not have the original carton of your computer or the label, then read on.

How to know the technical characteristics of your computer?

In Windows 10, it is very easy to find the features of your PC.

Go to the bottom left of your screen, right-click on the Windows logo, then select Computer Management.

In the menu on the left, click Device Manager. All information about the processor, graphics card, and peripherals is listed.

Want to know the RAM of your PC? Right-click on the Windows logo and select the System option.

The amount of RAM is just below the processor.

 

If your computer is running Windows 8, then go to the Charms bar, click Settings, and then click PC Info.

The window that opens automatically gives you all the data about your system.

Whether you have Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows XP, you will always be able to locate the technical characteristics (operating system, processor speed, RAM …) of your computer.

You can also install the free program of Piriform. The latter analyzes your PC and generates a summary in which is indicated the RAM, the total storage space, the type operating system, processor, motherboard, graphics cards, and even their temperature.

To change the language of the interface, go to View → Options and Language, and select French.  

 

If you select one of the options on the left menu, you will get even more details about the components of your computer hardware.

What is the graphics card of your PC?

To find out which graphics card is on your PC, follow these steps.

Right-click the Windows logo, and then click Computer Management. In the left menu, select Device Manager.

Otherwise, go to the Control Panel → System and Security → System. In the left side panel, select Device Manager.

Finally, click on the Graphics Cards option.

To learn more about your processor, click Processors at the very bottom of the list.
