How to disable Siri?

Some users love Siri, others do not.

Disable Siri Completely

If you no longer want to use the Apple Virtual Assistant, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Scroll down, and select Siri.
  • Then, turn Siri off by pushing the slider to the left.
  • Finally, confirm this step by pressing Disable Siri.

Disable “Dis Siri”

To disable only the Siri Dis feature, follow the same steps as above.

With the difference that you have to disable the option: Allow “Say Siri” instead of Siri.

Siri: unauthorized access in locked mode

Sometimes you activate the assistant inadvertently, by pressing a little longer on the home button, because you hold your iPhone firmly in your hand for example, and voila … Siri is all ears to your voice command.

Follow these 4 small steps so that Siri does not fire when your screen is locked:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Touch ID and Code, this option is not available on older iPhone models.
  • Type your code.
(Please note that you will be asked every time you want to access this option.)
  • Scroll down and clear Siri.

Note that this manipulation will automatically disable the Voice Dialing option.

Disable Siri’s suggestions

Do you search Spotlight or the Notification Center, and does Siri always make suggestions?

Here’s how to prevent it.

For Spotlight:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Then, select General.
  • Select Spotlight Search.
  • Then, turn off the Suggestions option for Siri.

Now, every time you enter a Spotlight search, Siri will not give you any more suggestions.

For the Notification Center:

  • From your home screen: Swipe left to access widgets (mini-applications: weather, plans, stock market, etc.).
  • Go down all the way down.
  • Tap Edit.

  • Then press the red circle on the left.
  • Finally, select Delete, which appears on the right.

That’s it, you can now do your research quietly!
