Welcome to “The Body’s Wisdom: Somatic Practices for Emotional & Nervous System Regulation”
Emotions are not just feelings in our minds; they are deeply felt in our bodies. When we experience anger, fear, sadness, stress, or anxiety, these emotions create physiological responses that can become stored as tension, discomfort, or even chronic pain if not fully processed and released. This course is designed to help you connect with and release these emotions through the body, using somatic practices that support emotional regulation and overall well-being.
What does “Somatic” mean?
“Somatic” is a Greek word for “body.” Somatic practices focus on the body’s sensations and movements to bring awareness and healing. In this course, we emphasise “bodyfulness”—the practice of being fully present in your body to understand and release what you are holding. By tuning into our bodies, we can regulate our nervous system, release stored emotions, and create a deeper sense of resilience and peace.
What is Nervous System Regulation?
Our nervous system plays a key role in how we experience and respond to emotions. When we are faced with intense feelings like fear, anger, or stress, our nervous system activates a “fight, flight, freeze or fawn” response to protect us. However, if this activation isn’t released, it can leave us feeling stuck, tense, or overwhelmed. This course uses movement, breathwork, and mindfulness techniques to help calm and regulate the nervous system, allowing emotions to be felt, processed, and released in a healthy way.
