All the man-made structures were designed and constructed by humans for a variety of functions including shelter, transportation, defense, communication, or cultural expression. These structures reflect human ingenuity, creativity, and the ability to manipulate natural materials for specific purposes.
Over the years, humans have developed a body of knowledge of the materials that they have used to shape the face of our world. This body of knowledge is constantly evolving with advances in science and technology and continues to be passed from generation to generation.
I have developed this course, Civil Construction Materials, for just about anyone who wants to learn about the principal civil engineering materials that have helped to shape our world.
The course is divided into 7 sections with each section providing insight into a specific civil construction material. The knowledge gained from all the sections can be applied to improve the durability, safety, and efficiency of civil construction projects.
