Zinc

The elemental metal named zinc is listed on the Periodic Table as “Zn”, has atomic number 30 and melts at 420 degrees Celsius (788 degrees Fahrenheit). The commodity zinc is the 24th most abundant element in the crust of the Earth. Its color is grey metallic and can be polished to a silver shine.

Zinc is an essential trace element commonly found in red meat, poultry, and fish. It is necessary in small amounts for human health, growth, and sense of taste. Zinc is found throughout the body. The body doesn’t store excess zinc, so it must be obtained from the diet.
