How to protect your teeth from plaque?

The formation of plaque on teeth is a Muslim in every person’s life and teeth! But this does not mean in any way that you surrender to him and let him “eat your teeth.” Here are the methods that contribute to protecting your teeth from plaque:

What is Plaque?

Plaque is a clear, sticky membrane that envelops your teeth when harmful bacteria multiply inside your mouth. Plaque forms when carbohydrates, such as sugars and starches, are left over a long period of time on teeth and in between. Among the most prominent of these foods are dairy products, soft drinks, raisins and candy.

The danger of plaque lies in the fact that it accumulates abundantly and neglecting its treatment and disposal leads to unforeseen health consequences for your health and the health of your teeth, as it leads to:

  1. Destruction of tooth enamel and caries.
  2. Incidence of disease and gum infections.
  3. Increased activity of the immune system, and therefore multiple infections in various parts of the body, which leads to many diseases and premature aging.

How can you fight plaque?

Although it is difficult to prevent the formation of harmful bacteria in the mouth, you can, through some easy daily and periodic habits, keep them at harmless levels, and keep your teeth and gums from the risk of plaque. Among the most prominent of these customs:

1- To wash and clean the teeth

Brushing and brushing teeth at least twice a day, morning and evening. It is also preferable to do this after eating each meal to get rid of its residues, and thus reduce the chances of plaque formation. It is also advised to use a soft toothbrush to prevent gum damage, and replace it with a new one every 3 to 4 months. For best results from brushing and toothpaste, be sure to:

  • The brush should be at a 45 degree angle with your gums.
  • Gently brush your teeth and by following circular motions.
  • Completely clean your teeth for two minutes at a time, including the interior, exterior and upper parts.
  • Clean your tongue with a special brush or with the back of your toothbrush (if designed for this purpose) to avoid harmful bacteria forming on it, and maintain a good mouth odor.

2- Use the thread continuously

Cleaning between the teeth using a thread or a brush for that, and do not forget to use a toothwash, as it is very effective in this regard, as it reaches all the places that the toothbrush does not reach and removes all remaining food residue. The floss can be used to clean the teeth before or after using the brush and putty, as you prefer.

It may also be advised to use tooth brushing regularly to clean the teeth and take advantage of the materials it contains, and against the formation of harmful bacteria inside the mouth.

3- Using the mouthwash

Gargle mouthwash  twice a day. Antibacterial types help a lot to soften plaque, and make it easier to remove it if it is formed. The benefits of mouthwash not only stop there, but antiseptic mouthwash eliminates germs that accumulate in the mouth cause gum infections. It is preferable to consult a dentist about the most appropriate types of teeth wash for your best results, ask your doctor about mouthwash with toothpicks extract, which is characterized by its antiseptic properties that protect from the accumulation of germs and gum infections resulting from it.

4- Avoid simple sugars

Reduce your intake of sugars and starches, as the bacteria accelerate to the remains of the foods that contain them as soon as they finish eating. So, it may be beneficial to carefully monitor your intake of these foods, to reduce the attacks of bacteria that cause plaque. On top of these foods harmful to your dental health:

  • Fried potato slices and bread.
  • Candy sticky and sticky (toffee and frankincense containing sugar).
  • Soda.
  • Alcohol.

If you eat foods that contain starches or sugars, be sure to:

  • If the brush, paste or mouthwash are not at your fingertips, use the mouthwash, as it helps get rid of harmful bacteria inside the mouth.
  • Brush your teeth, paste, or mouthwash immediately after eating.
  • Drink plenty of water after consuming it to get rid of its residue as much as possible.
