How to play your PS4 games on an iPhone

Sony’s PS4 Remote Play app is not new, since the arrival of the PS4 on the market, Sony allows players to access their console remotely and play it. You can connect from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a robust internet connection.

While Remote Play was initially reserved for PS Vita and PSTV, Sony had then made the application accessible to MacOS, PC, Android, and more recently, iOS devices are also entitled.

With this tutorial, learn how to play PS4 from your iPhone and optimize the video quality of the stream.

How to configure the PS4 Remote Play app on iOS?

The good news is that setting up PS4 Remote Play on your iPhone or iPad is very easy. To do this, you only need your iOS and access to your PS4, and then you have to follow these four steps:

  1. Download and install the PS4 Remote Play app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Open the app and enter your PlayStation Network credentials. You will then be asked to enter the 8-digit association code, which will be given after step 3.
  3. On your PS4, go to Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings, and make sure that the Enable Remote Play checkbox is checked.
  4. Now enter the 8-digit code on your iOS, the application will search your PS4. Once detected, log in and play!

If the application can not find your console, then follow these three steps:

  1. On your PS4, go to Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings, and select Add Device, a code appears on the screen.
  2. On your iOS, tap Manual Recording and enter the given code.
  3. Finally, validate with the Save option, the two devices should now be paired.

Improve your gaming experience

Technically, you are ready to play, but to be thoroughly we recommend you to change your streaming settings, to gain fluidity, and use an MFi controller, to play like on your console.

Adjust streaming settings

After your setup, and before you stream, we recommend changing the streaming settings. To do this, from the app, select the cogwheel placed at the top right, then go to Video Quality for Remote Playback.

The default is standard (540p), which is pretty good for an iPhone; you can even upgrade to 720p or 1080p. However, if you have a PS4 Pro, then this resolution could hurt fluidity.

A relatively slow internet connection is enough for a resolution of 540p. However, you will need a better speed (at home and wherever you are) to get a near-fluid experience of 720p or 1080p.

In addition to setting the resolution, you can also adjust the frame rate from the Settings menu. The higher it is, the better your gaming experience will be without lag, but for that, you will also need a high-speed connection.
